Souterraine – Performance-Tour by Louise Hervé
Souterraine is a site-specific performance-tour by artist Louise Hervé, presented by the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco inside the Grotte de l’Observatoire at the Jardin Exotique de Monaco on 2 October 2026.
A performance beneath Monaco
The event invites visitors to experience the Observatory Cave through a combination of guided movement, storytelling and artistic interpretation. The route descends deep into the limestone formation, where geological layers, traces of human activity and the changing underground environment become part of the performance itself.
Louise Hervé’s work uses the cave as both a real place and an imaginative setting, drawing attention to what is visible, what remains hidden and how stories can transform the way a historic natural site is perceived.
Part of Visiteurs du Soir
The performance is presented by the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco as part of Visiteurs du Soir – Autumn 2026 Contemporary Art Festival, organised by the Botox(s) network. The project is organised in partnership with the Jardin Exotique de Monaco and with the participation of the Musée d’Anthropologie Préhistorique.
