Ma Bayadère – Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo

Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo present the final Monaco performance of Jean-Christophe Maillot’s Ma Bayadère at the Grimaldi Forum on Saturday 2 January 2027. Maillot’s reinterpretation takes the classical idea of La Bayadère and turns it into a work about the life of a dance company itself, moving between fiction and reality while revealing the relationships, discipline and emotions that shape the world behind the stage.

Set to music by Léon Minkus with additional music by Bertrand Maillot, the production combines large-scale choreography with a theatrical look at dancers, choreographers, ballet masters and the collective life of a company. The performance features Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo conducted by Garrett Keast. Sets and costumes are by Jérôme Kaplan, with lighting by Jean-Christophe Maillot and Samuel Thery. The result is both a narrative ballet and a reflection on the artistic community that brings ballet to life.

The 2 January performance begins at 19:30 in the Salle des Princes at the Grimaldi Forum and lasts approximately 1 hour 50 minutes including an interval. Visitors should check the official Ballets de Monte-Carlo page for current ticket availability and any final production information.
