Victor Brauner: The Magical Adventure
Victor Brauner: The Magical Adventure presents a major survey of the Romanian-born artist and leading figure of international Surrealism. Hosted at the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco – Villa Paloma, the exhibition traces Brauner’s highly personal visual language across several decades, revealing how myth, symbolism, imagination and experimentation shaped one of Surrealism’s most distinctive careers.
A journey through Brauner’s artistic world
Drawing on an exceptional private collection based in Monaco, the exhibition brings together paintings, drawings, sculptures, objects and other works spanning the 1920s through the 1960s. The breadth of the selection allows visitors to follow the evolution of Brauner’s imagery, from early experimentation to the mature symbolic universe for which he became widely recognised.
Why the exhibition matters
Curated by Camille Morando, the exhibition offers a concentrated overview of an artist whose work occupies a distinctive place within the history of Surrealism. Brauner developed an immediately recognisable vocabulary while remaining closely connected to the broader artistic experiments of the 20th century.
For visitors, the show provides an opportunity to see how recurring symbols, hybrid figures and imaginative narratives changed over time while retaining a consistent emotional and poetic intensity.
