Soweto Gospel Choir – Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival 2026
The Soweto Gospel Choir closes the Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival at the Opéra Garnier on 29 November 2026 with an afternoon performance built around the power and colour of South African choral music. The concert brings the festival’s twentieth-anniversary edition to a celebratory conclusion in the Salle Garnier.
South African gospel on the Salle Garnier stage
The ensemble is internationally known for rich vocal harmonies, rhythmic energy and a repertoire rooted in South African gospel traditions. Their performances combine ensemble singing with movement and a strong communal stage presence, creating a concert experience that is both musical and theatrical.
Scheduled as the final listed concert of the 2026 Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival, the performance broadens the festival’s closing weekend beyond jazz alone and highlights the vocal traditions that have influenced gospel, soul and contemporary popular music.
