Remember the Night – Christmas Classic Film Screening
The Institut Audiovisuel de Monaco brings the timeless Hollywood romantic comedy Remember the Night to Théâtre des Variétés on 15 December 2026. Released in 1940 and directed by Mitchell Leisen, the film stars Barbara Stanwyck and Fred MacMurray in an unusually tender tale set during the Christmas season.
A Christmas classic on the big screen
Stanwyck plays a shoplifter whose court case leads to an unexpected holiday journey with the district attorney who prosecutes her, played by MacMurray. As the pair experience a Midwestern family Christmas, the story brings together sparkling dialogue, humour and an affecting reflection on generosity and second chances. The film is written by Preston Sturges and runs approximately 94 minutes.
Good to know
The screening starts on Tuesday 15 December at 7:00 PM. The evening also includes the short animated film Les Bottes de la nuit (2024, approximately 12 minutes). The Institut Audiovisuel de Monaco presents the main film in its original-language version with French subtitles.
