About the film
Playtime follows Monsieur Hulot through a stylised, ultra-modern Paris of glass buildings, offices, airports and public spaces. Jacques Tati uses architecture, movement, sound and visual comedy to observe the rhythms and absurdities of modern urban life.
The Institut Audiovisuel de Monaco lists the film as a French colour production with a running time of 125 minutes. Jacques Tati directs and appears as Monsieur Hulot, with a cast that also includes Barbara Dennek, Jacqueline Lecomte, Valérie Camille and France Rumilly.
