BBC Women Reporting the World – Talk by Colleen Murrell
BBC Women Reporting the World brings author, journalism professor and former BBC journalist Colleen Murrell to the Princess Grace Irish Library in Monaco-Ville on Thursday 1 October 2026 at 7:00 pm.
Women, journalism and international reporting
The evening explores the changing role of women in international news reporting through Murrell’s book BBC Women Reporting the World: Conversations with Foreign Correspondents. Drawing on interviews with prominent BBC journalists, the talk looks at the obstacles women faced in entering foreign correspondence and the professional changes that have reshaped the field over time.
The programme also connects these themes with the wider cultural context of Princess Grace, whose career in film and later public role in Monaco reflected a strong understanding of communication, image and storytelling.

Colleen Murrell is Professor of Journalism at Dublin City University and previously worked as a producer, reporter and news editor for international broadcasters including the BBC, ITN, AP, TF1, CBC and ABC Australia.
