Abstract painting by Gwen O'Neil from the artist's earlier gallery installation; not the 2026 Atlantic Ave show

Gwen O’Neil – Atlantic Ave at Almine Rech Monaco

Discover Gwen O’Neil’s new abstract paintings in Atlantic Ave, her third solo exhibition with Almine Rech, presented in Monaco from 8 October 2026 until 29 January 2027. The American painter returns to the landscape of her upbringing on the eastern coast of the United States, exploring the relationship between remembered places and a renewed sense of belonging.

Inside the exhibition

The title takes its name from a street leading to the ocean in Amagansett. Landscapes, water, light and fleeting natural encounters inform O’Neil’s luminous compositions. Her practice combines energetic painting with a technique of staining the canvas using pigments diluted with water and soap, allowing unplanned forms and translucent colour to interact with the artist’s gesture.
