Move early or later
Schedule outdoor walks before 11:00 or after 17:00 when possible. Avoid strenuous sightseeing, sport and steep climbs in the hottest part of the day.
Practical Information · Hot Weather
Plan around the hottest hours, recognise when to slow down and know where to find official advice during periods of very high temperatures in the Principality.
Plan before the heat builds
Monaco’s compact size can be deceptive: steep streets, steps and exposed waterfront routes can turn a short journey into sustained effort. During very hot weather, reduce the number of stops, use lifts or public transport where practical and reserve the middle of the day for a cool indoor break.

Drink regularly throughout the day. Monaco’s official advice recommends at least 1.5 litres daily during very hot weather, unless a clinician has given you different guidance.
Spend two to three hours in a cool place. Identify a suitable public building, cinema, shop or other air-conditioned venue before setting out and confirm its current opening arrangements.
Heat can affect people before the warning signs feel serious. Start drinking, cooling down and reducing activity early. If you take medication, are pregnant or have a long-term health condition, ask a doctor or pharmacist for individual advice.
Extra care
Older people may regulate body temperature less effectively, while children and adults can lose substantial water through perspiration. Babies, young children, pregnant people and those with medical conditions or certain medications require particular attention.
Official vigilance
Monaco’s legal weather-vigilance framework covers heat peaks and heatwaves. Government services may issue instructions, restrictions or exceptional protective measures according to the expected risk.

Act early
Stop the activity, move to a cool place, begin cooling the person and alert someone nearby. For unusual symptoms, seek advice from a doctor or pharmacist. If someone needs urgent assistance, use Monaco’s emergency number.
Give a precise location, describe what has happened and follow the operator’s instructions. Monaco’s official numbering plan also lists 15 for urgent medical assistance and 18 for the Fire and Emergency Service.
