Miles Davis Centenary – Ascenseur pour l’échafaud Screening
Monaco marks the centenary of Miles Davis with a screening of Louis Malle’s 1958 film Ascenseur pour l’échafaud, a landmark of French cinema whose improvised jazz score became one of the trumpeter’s most celebrated film recordings.
The evening is introduced by Jean-Paul Commin, giving audiences context for the film, its place in Malle’s career and the unusual recording process that helped turn Davis’s soundtrack into a classic in its own right. It is an opportunity to experience cinema and jazz together in the intimate cultural setting of the Médiathèque Caroline.
