SUMMARY:Mural Painting Workshops for Children — Mémoire des lieux, 23 December 2026
DESCRIPTION:A hands-on art afternoon during the Christmas holiday period\nFamilies spending the run-up to Christmas in Monaco can discover the art of mural painting through two age-specific creative sessions held on Wednesday 23 December 2026 at the Salle d’Exposition du quai Antoine Ier. Part of the youth activities accompanying the Mémoire des lieux heritage exhibition, the workshops introduce children to the methods and cultural history of fresco painting before inviting them to contribute to a collaborative artwork. The two sessions are coordinated within the same afternoon and are presented here as one event rather than separate duplicated listings.\nDiscover the technique of mural painting\nThe programme is led by artist and painter Valentine Trassy. Participants learn how historical frescoes were produced, from preparing a plaster surface to applying pigments. The artist introduces the relationship between traditional techniques and the development of wall painting through the centuries, before participants explore a practical group painting activity using contemporary acrylic materials. The exhibition provides additional context, examining the way architecture, art and collective memory help define Monaco’s changing urban landscape.\nWednesday 23 December — two workshops\n\n2:00–3:30 pm: mural painting session for children aged 6–9.\n4:00–5:30 pm: mural painting session for children aged 10–14.\nLocation: Salle d’Exposition du quai Antoine Ier, 4 quai Antoine Ier, 98000 Monaco.\nParticipation: free of charge, subject to availability and advance registration.\nRegistration: telephone +377 98 98 83 03 or email infodac@gouv.mc.\n\nAbout the venue\nThe exhibition hall at quai Antoine Ier occupies a cultural setting beside Monaco’s historic harbour. The space hosts public exhibitions and cultural activities, and its Mémoire des lieux programme explores the Principality’s architectural and artistic heritage through photographs, installations, artworks and creative participation.\nPlan your visit\nChoose the session corresponding to the child’s age and register in advance; places are limited. The 30-minute interval between the two sessions is not part of either workshop. The announced programme is a family art activity during the holiday week, not a Christmas-themed performance. Ask the cultural service about adult-accompaniment requirements, accessibility or any materials to bring when registering. The official programme lists the two distinct December 23 sessions, not workshops on every day between October and December.\n
