SUMMARY:Georges Vigarello – The Body in Motion in Painting
DESCRIPTION:\nHistorian Georges Vigarello comes to Médiathèque Caroline on 20 October 2026 for a public meeting and book signing centred on his latest work, Le corps en mouvement dans la peinture. The evening explores how painters have represented movement, gesture and the human body across different periods of art history.\nArt history through the moving body\nVigarello examines the changing ways artists have captured bodies in action and how these visual choices reflect broader ideas about society, physical culture and perception. The event is designed as an accessible conversation around the themes of the book rather than a formal academic lecture.\nThe discussion is followed by an exchange with the audience and a signing session, giving visitors the opportunity to continue the conversation with the author.\nGood to know\nThe event takes place on Tuesday 20 October 2026 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Admission is free, and the event is listed as accessible to people with reduced mobility.\nAbout the venue\nMédiathèque Caroline is Monaco’s municipal media library at 5 Promenade Honoré II, hosting literary meetings, conferences, workshops and public cultural events throughout the year.\n\n
