SUMMARY:Pâques sanglantes – Giuseppe De Santis
DESCRIPTION:\nThe Institut Audiovisuel de Monaco presents Giuseppe De Santis’s Pâques sanglantes at Théâtre des Variétés on 20 October 2026 as part of the “Cinéma retrouvé” repertory series. The screening places a major work of post-war Italian cinema back on the big screen in its original version with French subtitles.\nItalian neorealism with the energy of genre cinema\nDe Santis follows a demobilised soldier who returns home to discover that a wealthy local landowner has taken his sheep and is also pursuing his fiancée. The story combines rural conflict, social tension and dramatic momentum in a style that blends neorealist observation with elements of popular cinema.\nThe evening also includes a short first part before the feature presentation, continuing the Institut Audiovisuel’s approach of placing restored and repertory films within a broader historical and cultural context.\nGood to know\nThe screening takes place on Tuesday 20 October 2026 from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM. The film is shown in its original version with French subtitles. The event is listed as accessible to people with reduced mobility.\nAbout the venue\nThéâtre des Variétés is a central Monaco cultural venue on Boulevard Albert Ier, regularly used for film screenings, talks, performances and public cultural events.\n\n
