SUMMARY:The Taming of the Shrew — Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo
DESCRIPTION:Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo present Jean-Christophe Maillot’s acclaimed interpretation of The Taming of the Shrew at the Salle Garnier of the Opéra de Monte-Carlo from 24 to 27 June 2027. Rather than treating Shakespeare’s comedy as a conventional battle of the sexes, Maillot’s choreography focuses on the encounter between two forceful, independent personalities whose resistance to social expectations becomes the basis of an unconventional relationship.\nCreated to music by Dmitri Shostakovich, with scenography by Ernest Pignon-Ernest, costumes by Augustin Maillot and lighting by Dominique Drillot, the production combines theatrical storytelling with the physical language of contemporary ballet. The work was originally created for the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow in 2014 and later entered the repertoire of Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo.\nAll four Monaco performances are scheduled for 7:30 PM. The running time is approximately 1 hour 50 minutes including interval. Visitors should consult the official Ballets de Monte-Carlo page for current ticket availability and any updates to access or performance arrangements.\n
